History of Face Saver Cosmetics
Custom Cosmetics, Specialty Skin Care Products and Skin Care Treatments for African-Americans®
|

As with many companies, an idea, a desire to help others and great products started Face
Saver Cosmetics in December 2004.
At age 52, Jacqueline Boatman, obtained her esthetician’s license so she could learn how to
keep her skin looking healthy and maintain youthful clarity. After researching many skin care
manufacturers, she found a cosmetic laboratory that was willing to work to create products that
would provide results for skin care issues unique to African Americans.
Upon receipt of the products, Jacqueline started using them to perform facials on friends and
relative during the Christmas holiday season in 2004. Her friends and relatives were so
impressed with the improvement in the appearance of their skin; they asked to purchase the
products. That's when Jacqueline wondered, “How many other people would buy skin care
products that actually delivered results rather than promises for African American skin?”
Although selling the products has not been easy, especially with the downturn in the economy,
Jacqueline is persistent as any entrepreneur would be. With the help and support of her
daughter, a business plan, personal funding and a lot of prayers, they were off and running.
In the beginning, Face Saver Cosmetics only sold products through word of mouth. To grow
the business, they had to grow their selection as well, so they added custom blend make-up.
To make a long story short, the team custom blend mineral powders, mineral foundations and
mineral concealers based on skin tone, skin type and skin condition with botanical complexes,
age-defying actives and sunscreen enhancer for healthy aging benefits for African American
skin.
The real driving force behind the company is personal and private service in addition to the
fact that all of their products and make up are manufactured in the USA and do not contain
mineral oil, petroleum or dyes. The nutrient-rich products are designed to give Black skin the
vitamins and minerals needed to bring back luminosity, fight aging and address our unique
skin concerns. Additionally, every facial treatment is performed by Jacqueline and the custom
blending is done by Olivia, a certified color blend expert. They both share the same vision, to
help African-Americans maintain healthy and beautiful skin.
Because of their genuine desire to help others and knowing that when Black skin is treated
well its reward is long-lasting beauty and radiance. Face Saver Cosmetics, a prestige custom
cosmetic and specialty skin care company offer results -- not promises -- in the way Black skin
looks and feels is now located in Farmington, Michigan.
Whether it is adding a new service or supplying their skin care products to others
establishments, Face Saver continues to seriously do what others are not -- helping African
Americans by offering products that address the skin characteristics of their skin that provide
results while keeping the skin healthy and feeling better about the appearance of their skin.
Jacqueline has spent the past 28 years successfully employed as a legal administrative
assistant in some of Detroit’s major law firms and auto suppliers. Olivia, who has a
Mechanical Engineering Degree and MBA, has spent five years as a process engineer and
two years as a patent analyst.
The mother-daughter team has learned to pull the plug on things that intimidate them and
persevere with a courageous attitude and renewed faith.
